Edinburgh and the Royal Commonwealth Pool
Travelling to Edinburgh
Edinburgh airport is located to the west of the city. Flights to Edinburgh are available from a wide range of locations across the world, including all major European and UK cities. Details can be found at http://www.edinburghairport.com/flights/route-map.
The city lies on the main east coast rail line. The two principle stations are Edinburgh Waverley, in central Edinburgh (closest to the pool) and Haymarket (in the west end).
Travel within Edinburgh
Trams and public buses operate from the airport to the city centre, and buses run throughout the city. However, the city centre is quite compact - the Royal Commonwealth Pool is a 15 - 20 minute walk from the Royal Mile (High Street) and Princes Street. With Arthur's Seat and the Salisbury Crags providing a backdrop to the pool, it provides the perfect landmark for those wishing to enjoy the walk.
There are a large number of taxi firms operating in Edinburgh. Here is a selection:
Capital Taxis 0131 777 7777
City Cabs 0131 228 1211
Central Taxis 0131 229 2468
Persevere Cabs 0131 555 2323
Uber is also available.
